South Portland Maine Real Estate market Snapshot

South Portland is located just across the million dollar bridge from Portland and often overlooked as a great alternative to in town Portland living as it can be quicker to get downtown from many areas of South Portland than it can from the outer extremeties of Portland.  Homes in South Portland can be found as low as 130K, but this price point is generaly the foreclosures and short sales  Currently there are 140 homes on the market with a median asking price of  240K.   The Willard Beach location is one of the finest neighborhoods in the region with a local beach and marina within walking distances coupled with a strong sense of community.  South Portland is also home to the only mall in Maine aka the Maine Mall as well as many  of the states largest employers including National Semiconductor, Anthem Blue Cross, and Wright Express.  Parties aptly called by locals "from away" who are loooking to  relocate to Maine should definitely give this community a 2nd look if they have overlooked it due to the proximity of its large neighbor, Portland.
