I wanted to check out the authority of a REW blog entry versus a Squidoo lens page. Using the phrase "Tumbleweed Music Festival," a popular festival in our area, I wrote a blog entry here in REW about the Tumbleweed Music Festival, as well as a lens in Squidoo about the Tumbleweed Music Festival. I used unique content in both, as well as the same keywords where possible. Well, the winner is REW. Just thought I would pass that along!

I've read in more than a few places that Google is headed towards placing less importance on inbound linking and more importance on other factors for search engine positioning. Jason L. Miller, WebProNews contributor, does a good job of compiling various resources and suggesting a multilateral approach by quoting another writer:

...a multilateral approach that includes PageRank, inbound links, subscribers, content focus, update frequency, comment numbers, numbers of friends, number of Twitter followers, number of LinkedIn contacts, photos and videos uploaded...

What is Facebook?

Wikipedia writes:

Facebook is a social networking website. As of July 2007, it is the second most visited such website on the World Wide Web, with over 28 million members. It is surpassed only by MySpace. I'm in church this past week listening to the pastor of our church provide a sermon illustration using images from a home inspection website.  I start thinking, "This'll make a great blog entry!"  Why I was thinking about real estate blog entries in the middle of a church service?  I dunno! If I were to think about God while doing real estate, as much as I think about other things other then the message being brought on Sundays, I'd be a better person, but that's a thought for another day, another blog.

I just ran across a great article on landing page optimization.  Geez, I have some work to do!    In the article, the author discusses 10 points to consider when designing a page for a visitor's entry.  The author introduces the subject with a client who has a large ppc/seo/marketing budget, but none of it had been spent on the page the potential client lands on.  To read more, click here.

Zillow is one of the most interesting sites on the Internet, Washington Real Estate News reports, as far as its attempt to evaluate vastly different properties and augmenting that service with features like aerial maps and listings for sale in the area to first bring in potential buyers with a cool service like home values and then selling them something through the additional services offered. However, the information available is only reliable in relatively homogeneous areas and cannot replace the ability of a Washington real estate agent to either determine the value of your home for sale or pinpoint areas a potential buyer’s budget will allow a home purchase.
