10 Tips For New Home Or First Time House Buyers

The process of buying your first home can be overwhelming. Consider this "top 10" list to keep yourself focused on your new home purchase:
- Seek a qualified loan representative and get pre-approved.
- Research the neighborhoods and prices before you start working with a real estate agent. Know crime rates, school information, etc.
- Find a real estate agent who has experience in the neighborhoods that interest you. [cough!]
- When you first start looking, see several properties.
- Look past the green shag carpeting (potentially saving some money).
- Research the homeowners association of the places you like.
- Remember to budget for property taxes, home maintenance, HOA dues, and insurance.
- Don't blow your budget and spend beyond your means.
- Get the home checked out by a professional inspector.
- Educate yourself about, and brace yourself for, the "closing" process.

Thanks for commenting Angela! We make sure everyone is pre-qualified. All it took was a few of our deals to fall out of escrow due to a buyer's inability procure funding to make a believer of pre-qualitfication for Colleen and I!

The number #1 and most important, go see a lender. Its amazing how may first time home buyers are out looking at house without talking to a lender.
