Holy Social Networking Diversity, Batman!

So, over the last couple of days, I have taken to going around the internet, seeking out the best SocialBATMAN! Networking/Bookmarking sites and creating accounts with all of them.

It's overdue, really. I should have been doing this MONTHS ago. There are so many!

I had never actually realized how diverse each one is! It's actually really fun and intriguing. The sign-up forms for each are all completely different. Each one offers some features that the other doesn't. It's great!

I think for my last shot at the Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World contest, I'll do some hardcore social networking. I'm on like, page 10 now for the search term. I got pretty busy for a while there... or lazy.. and have fallen behind.

Boris will make his return!

It's hard to choose a favorite Social Networking site because they are all so very different, but I think I'm going to go with Squidoo. It's a fun, easy interface. I can't believe I actually thought it was difficult to get a lens going at one point. Pretty ridiculous, hey?

My only problem with Squidoo is the way the lens looks when it's done. I don't like the colour scheme or all the ads. It just looks tacky. Does anyone know if there's a way to change the appearance of your lens?

Anyway, that's just an update on what I've been doing the last couple of days.

"Does anyone know if there's a way to change the appearance of your lens?" Yes, there are several ways.  You can 'unmax' the lens for starters. Alternatively, you can create a lens in one of several formats Squidoo offers: HeyMonkeyBrain | SquidFlix | SquidLit | SquidWho | SquidVids | SquidBids | The Ever Project.  All of which offer a different look.  Email or PM me if you need help.  Today, we have 5 lenses in the top 100 (out of nearly 500,000) lenses at Squidoo, so we know a little about how things work over there.  Heck, I even help folks who haven't added me to their 'Friends' list [cough]!

Hey Nick! All of Joe's suggestions are great, but in the end the squids are kind of themed in order to keep the thing all looking uniform. One thing IMO to add to the equation is that making it TOO flexible can get expensive. To look at it alternatively, it would be how you feel when a bunch of us ask Morgan to make the REW blogs do this and that and look this way and that (grin). I know you guys spend a ton of time to make it the best possible, but there are limitations both time and money wise. I think the Squidoo team has overall done a heck of a job combining flexibility and ease of use. I think REW has done a bang up job as well. I'd agree with you that there are a TON of social networking flavors out there! Geez...I'd be happy to be your friend as well! (grin) Eric

1. Hey Joe, thanks for the comment! Added ya to my friends list .  I will check out all the stuff you mentioned and see what I can come up with. Congrats about the 5 lens. That seems like quite the feat! I'll let you know if I need help on anything. Thanks! 2. Hey Eric. Thanks for your comment, as well. You're also added . I was thinking more along the lines of what Blogger has set up, in terms of themes and appearance. With Blogger, there are several default themes that their blogs come with. I think they could still look fairly uniform with some different organization and colour schemes. I think I just find the dark blue on white overpowering.

Thanks Nick!  About the money.  Is the amount your charging me to be on your Friends list negotiable?

If by money you, you mean cupcakes.. no. I expect the 10 dozen at my house by early tomorrow morning.

Hey Nick-- PM me your address! (grin)   Eric

You can just send them to REW (See homepage). Just make sure you put my name on it - These other REW-ites are ruthless with cupcakes.

I figured Dave would pound 'em before you even got a sniff! (GRIN) Eric

Yes all the Social Networks out there are mind boggling.  Always difficult to know which ones to join, which ones will help you succeed in your business.  Best rule of thumb that I came up with is to join the ones that you think you will enjoy the most and just keep at it.  If you enjoy it, contributing will come easy.
