In Loving Memory...

photo SEO Nick

Hey Everyone,

Last Saturday, my father died in his sleep due to a heart attack. I just wanted to make a thread dedicated to his memory.

To tell you all the truth, it hasn't hit me yet. I don't think it will until the funeral tomorrow, we'll see. He wasn't the greatest dad in the world - but he definitely didn't deserve to die at such a young age. He was only 52.

He was never cruel or mean spirited towards my family or anyone else. He had his problems but then again, we all do.

I'll miss those yearly trips to the PNE, Dad.

One day, I'll see you again. Love Nick.

My sister Lina, Ray(my dad) and Davin(My nephew).

If I Had A Real Estate Site...

photo SEO Nick

This is one nice site:
Texas Real Estate

Everything about it, in my eyes is perfect. The thing I like the most is the 3 animated calls to action. They are very well done and the images definitely catch my attention. Just thought I'd give these guys a blog post link for having such a neat little site :) Read Full Post

Link Managing Annoyances

photo SEO Nick

Working for Real Estate Webmasters for a couple years now has given me plenty of opportunity to develop some pretty interesting pet peeves. I find myself doing them at times too... and I have to stop myself. Sometimes I slip though.

Something that took me a while to come to terms with was the fact that not every Realtor out there is Web Savvy and sometimes I will have to explain the little things. I often get questions and comments like:

"What is an anchor text?" "What does SEO mean?" and the classic, "Please stop sending me these automated messages!"

Those I can handle. But sometimes I get sent some things that just make me cringe. One of the major things is automated linking software. There is nothing worse than coming into work… Read Full Post

Pretty Sites!

photo SEO Nick

In true Leif form, here are a couple of sites I think are aesthetically pleasing.

http://www.pointesouth.com

There are two things I would change about this site. Number 1: I'd can the music. I hate any kind of audio when I check out a site. Most of the time my speakers are turned up for my tunes or something. Number 2: I would change the gray background to light blue or black.  I feel that the gray clashes with the bright greens and blues of the rest of the site. Aside from those two flaws, I think this site is really beautiful. Everything is really clear and the site is really easy to navigate through.

As far as usability goes, this site is great. The design is really simple, but effective. I like the… Read Full Post

How To Embed A YouTube Video In A Blog Post!

photo SEO Nick

Hey Everyone!

To embed a YouTube video in your blog post, all you have to do is:

1. Go to YouTube and click on the video you want to embed.

On the right hand side of the screen under the description of the video, there should be two little text boxes. One that says URL and another that says embed.

2. Copy the code from the embed text box.

3. Go to your blog and click Post New Entry.

In the area where you type your message, there should be a bunch of options at the top: Source, abc, Bold, Italic, bullets, etc.

4.Click Source and paste the YouTube code into the text box area.

5. Click Save & Publish entry and Bam! There you go....

The Nintendo Wii - Best Workout I've Ever Had.

photo SEO Nick

SEO Dave recently bought a Wii, after much hype from Thomas. For those of you who don't know, the Wii is the latest Nintendo Gaming System. This thing is absolutely amazing. I went over to Dave's place to give it a shot. Good god, I have never broken a sweat playing a video game before.

The controls are completely different than any video game I have ever seen. You have a remote control aka Wand and another control that goes in the other hand called a Nunchuk. There is a sensor you place at the top of your TV and it picks up the movements of your hand with the controls.

This adds a whole new level of realism to these games. For bowling, you actually have to bowl the freakin ball. Of course, it's invisible... you are just making the… Read Full Post

SEO Nick's Resolutions And Plans For 2007

photo SEO Nick

This post doesn't really apply to real estate, or being a webmaster, or real estate webmasters. More of just some random thoughts and resolutions for the year 2007. After reading a post by Phil(aka Phuel), I decided to make my own list of things I would like to accomplish in my 22nd year on planet earth.

One thing I started doing last year is making music. I put together a small project called FingerSauce with my girlfriend. It's pretty much Portia, my girl, me, my guitar, a crappy computer mic and Acid Music Studio. We started out recording our versions of songs made famous by David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, Pearl Jam and some more Pearl Jam.

My resolution this year is to create an entire album of original music. It's going pretty good so… Read Full Post

Content Thievery.

photo SEO Nick

Lately on REW, there have been quite a few posts concerning content thievery. It seems like it's happening more than ever. There are a couple ways to check if a site has stolen content from you.

1. You could go to one of your main traffic pages and copy a sentence of your choice. Go to Google.com and place it in the search box with quotations. Search it and see what comes up. If something comes up that isn't your site, chances are they have stolen some content from you.

2. The second method is actually a website: http://www.copyscape.com/ I'll have to give Judy Orr credit for this one. I found it through her. What you do is go to that site, type in your URL and it will scour the web for sites that have duplicate content. It's pretty amazing.
