500,000 Unique Views On My Real Estate Webmasters (REW) Blog

Real Estate Webmasters REW LogoAs most of you know I usually blog about Dubai property and real estate as that's my market but this is something a little different, this is about Real Estate Webmasters or REW as they are better known as and the advantages of blogging on this amazing platform they give us the use of.
 
Like many of you I`m sure who blog here I had little understanding of what blogs were all about when I first started but one thing was for sure if Morgan Carey with his vast knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (S.E.O.) had developed it and was promoting this blog, there was probably a good reason why.
 
I made lots of mistakes when first starting up you know the old "duplicate content issue" etc and blogging the same content on different blogs, however after being put on the right track by a few people who use the forums (Joe Lane for one) etc I gradually got a hang of what it was all about and more importantly how I could take advantage of this by driving traffic to my own site Dubai Property Portal. As time went on my blogs kind of evolved as my knowledge about blogging increased then I looked into the titles more and did some deeper research into keywords and my market in particular, always focusing on interesting content and lots of "hot" topics. Over the last 6 months I have been optimizing the images as much as possible, having found this to be an amazing traffic generator if you can get on page 1 of Google images for some of your markets bigger keywords, I`ll give some examples of this shortly.
 
Here are some interesting stats and numbers so that any of you who are new to REW blogs can see what the benefits are of using this free, yes free!! service they provide. I`m actually writing this prematurely for when my blog hits the 500,000 half a million unique views then I`ll post it but as of today here are the stats:

That's an average of 1,744 unique views per blog (excluding static pages) not bad eh? Morgan also provided a useful breakdown of my stats for last month on GA showing the number of page views and unique page views as shown below:

The most viewed blog I have is this one here on Dubai Property News with just over 62,000 unique views, now there is a good reason for this extremely high number and as mentioned before it comes down to image optimization. This blog image has slowly crept up to page 1 of Google Images for the keyword "Dubai" out of 7,460,000 search results and now it sits on the top row at number 5 here on my searches, should it make it into the top 4 then again I`ll see a big jump in traffic as that web search also shows image results on there. In fact these days I look for Google web rankings that show image results in there and then I go after a placement on the 1st page. For best results on how to do this when uploading your images it is better to rename them FIRST with keywords that are relevant to your post or blog and then with the alternative text "alt" function again after, I try not to use any spaces when re naming the image or it shows as a % sign in results (just personal preference) and use the - hyphen instead. For example an image for sell Dubai property would be re named and saved as sell-dubai-property and then uploaded. The only downside to optimizing the images is that your bounce rate will go up but I can handle that as long as I get some leads out of it which of course I do :)
 
Morgan gives a good summary here on the rules for using REW blogs that should always be followed. I sometimes take the time to read his other post here when users have been "flagged" for violating the TOS of the blogs and find it such a shame that some of them cant take a step back and correct their mistakes in order to reap the kind of benefits I have clearly shown above in the long run, although most seem to take note.
 
Also I would also highly recommend the use of the static user pages that can be created on topics of choice having found that these rank very well (and stay there) more often than not and out rank other established sites who are competitors, so it`s a bit like running multiple websites having your own site and REW thus generating more leads and clients. I can honestly say I`ve lost count of the number of leads that have been created from my REW blog but it`s a heck of a lot!!
 
I don't claim to be a good writer of content it has always been one of my weaknesses but it just goes to show anyone can do it if you put your mind to it with some creativity and effort. Congrats on your blogging success.  Of course, I'm sure there is an interest in Dubai that some smaller towns will never get.  I love blogging and updating my websites but I don't spend too much time on stats (hey, somethin's gotta give). 

I've seen many agents question the value of blogging, but if done correctly, at the least it should help your main site(s).  And then there are those lucky ones that get actual leads from their blogging efforts.

Right on! 500,000 unique views is pretty impressive, but it goes to show what a little (or a lot) of effort can produce. Now its time to shoot for 1,000,000

I did a little bit of research into the most viewed blogs of all time and the award goes to Susan Boyle with 170,000,000 views wow thats some traffic, oh well back to the drawing board...

Just a little update... I`m close to approaching 750,000 unique views which has taken just over 3 months since this 500k views post,  so in theory another 3 months or so and I`ll be at the 1 Mill milestone
