Dubai TowersWith the continued speculation around the direction of the Dubai freehold property market showing no real signs of abating, the Dubai government has promised to step in if required to secure the stability of the property sector within the Emirate. For a long time now there has been increasing media interest in the Dubai real estate market and its future direction. Prices here have been rising steadily the past few years, and 2008 has proven no different. Both Dubai apartment and villa prices have reached record levels as the unprecedented success of the Dubai real estate market continued. However these record prices were strongly rumored to be based around speculation from many buyers, and this coupled with the world economic turndown had lead many to suggest a property crash may well be on the way.

This has been going on for quite a while now, with no obvious answer yet to materialize. With mixed reports of property price increases and decrease, and contradicting media information, the whole situation has become rather muddled. However recently it has been confirmed that the Emirates Executive council is keeping a very close eye on matters at hand, and if required would be able to help ensure the property market doesn’t take a turn for the worse. Having already guaranteed customers bank deposits in Dubai, and with an AED120 billion cash injection for the economy to maintain liquidity, the government is certainly being proactive in the face of the current global economic woes.

Dubai BuildingsAnd now it seems the Dubai government will take the same approach to the real estate market if required. Dubai is not your average property market, with many of the main developers being linked to the government, giving much more control than could be expected in other countries. It seems the government is ready to implement new initiatives and legislation to ensure the market remains robust, and to ensure investor confidence remains high. This will no doubt come as a relief to many who may have been questioning the current direction of the property market here. With the Dubai government willing to help out, if things do start to take a turn for the worse here, then Dubai properties have the correct backing to quickly resolve any issues, which bodes well for buyers.
