Despite all the property on offer here, Dubai as a city isn’t that big a place. There is finite land and space here on which to build freehold real estate and this is something which certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed with Dubai property developers. High rise apartment buildings are certainly one way around the problem, and Dubai has certainly taken this to heart. Dubai already has a good selection of apartment buildings with the Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residences, Downtown Dubai and many more on the way. Building upwards is of course the normal solution, and properties such as the Burj Dubai, Burj Al Alam and Nakheels newest super tower project, certainly take this to the extreme with such Dubai apartments. But then there are of course other methods! Dubai was never going to let a finite amount of land get in its way!
And this has seen the rise in land reclamation projects for real estate in Dubai. The Palm Jumeirah started it all off with a rather big bang, and such was the excitement generated; it wasn’t long before other such projects were announced. Despite the Palm Jumeirah ending up much delayed, it was after all the largest such project to be attempted, it didn’t stop Nahkeel setting about building another two Palm projects, and also The World Dubai. And then not so long after the Dubai Waterfront was announced! And this land reclamation project to end all other land reclamation projects, making a new city within Dubai! You might think after all this Dubai would be running out of sea in which to building new property. But Zabeel Properties has managed to find some space somewhere for its new Dubawi freehold project.
Whilst details are scarce at the moment, what we do know sounds promising. Taking its name Dubawi from the ancient word for a Dubai resident, the project looks to bring more luxury waterfront properties to the market, something that is always a popular move in Dubai! The Dubawi Island resort and Spa will feature a luxury hotel on top of the waterfront villas, which Zabeel states will be some of the most luxurious in the Emirate! They will be built upon a leaf shaped, tropical themed island located off the crescent of the Palm Jumeirah. Zabeel will release more details at a late date, but with piling work already finished, the developed is expected to be completed by 2010.
