It is rare that Dubai isn’t capturing the headlines for the UAE, a situation it has grown very much accustomed to of late, but recently Abu Dhabi has certainly been making headway in this regard. The recent acquisition of Manchester City football club by Abu Dhabi based Hydra properties has thrust the UAE into the limelight. Whereas previously many investors wouldn’t not have known anything past Dubai, with the events of late many have woken up to the potential of Abu Dhabi. So how do the two measure up, and does Abu Dhabi property now provide a challenge to Dubai in the investment and glamour stakes?
The reason many people don’t know much about the UAE beyond Dubai is more down to Dubai’s great job of self promotion and marketing than Abu Dhabi and the other Emirates lacking in anything. Dubai’s prominence in the area could be a little suppressing given Abu Dhabi is the wealthiest of the Emirates, and at least with regards to business, is the more established city, with Dubai now only beginning to emerge in this area. Its clear Dubai’s spectacular real estate developments have given it an extra edge, but is Abu Dhabi now offering buyers an alternative freehold property destination in which to invest? Well it certainly has potential; with many believing Abu Dhabi still has room for real estate price expansion, with property here being significantly undervalued in comparison with the likes of Singapore and other similar cities.
It is clear Abu Dhabi has a lot of the same things going for it that has made Dubai so popular, both in terms of tax benefits and a great life style. So has Dubai met its match? Well, whilst things are certainly looking good for Abu Dhabi, Dubai still looks set to retain its large appeal with property investors. The real estate on offer throughout Dubai is still the best in the land, and will certainly take some beating. Dubai still retains a certain aura despite its higher prices and the current property market speculation. However for those priced out of the Dubai off plan property market, and looking for a good long term investment, Abu Dhabi could offer exactly what you are looking for.
