I received this response to my IDX registration email:

Yes, I am looking for a high end home, I noticed that you sell luxury properties...I'm fully prepared to spend 50-60k to get what I want.  I'm looking for a pool home within walking distance to the beach and I have narrowed the search from Naples to Destin although I have never been to Florida.  I just quit my job but I know my credit is good because I just got a credit card offer in the mail with a $350 limit.  I don't have any down payment money and will go for an FHA loan with seller credits and the down payment assistance program.  I look forward to you driving me around and showing me 30-40 properties which I will decide all suck then I will ask you about renting...but I won't be serious about that either.

Oh, and I have contacted 6 other realtors, I hope that is cool...may the best man win!  Compete for my business, I hear its a buyers market after all!

Actually, Jason Painter, a Realtor in Englewood, sent that to me as a joke. I thought it was funny.

That is pretty damn funny! I get those all the time actually (seriously though)

Goes along the lines of - I saw the site you did for Marc Rasmussen at http://www.luxurysarasotarealestate.com - What an awesome site! (And great search engine positions to) - I want one, and I also will need you to handle all of the SEO and overtake Marc because I am in his market, and don't have the time or inclination to help myself with SEO stuff.

My budget is $1000 and for this kind of $ I would expect to be beating Marc within 2 months and I want a guarantee in writing, I can't imagine he has spent any more than that with you guys, I will be your best customer

How about it Marc? I could take this guys job on and get him thousands of leads for $1000 bucks, and that would help him earn enough commission to have a downpayment on that sweeeeeeeeeetttttttttttt $50,000 (multi-million dollar) property.

Oh yeah, I forgot my favorite part:

"No thanks, I don't need to pay for unique content, like I said I am in Marc's market, so you can just take what he has on his site and put it on mine, thanks"

I think one of the best skills we can develop as service providers is the ability to weed out the unrealistic people. I spoke with a woman a couple of weeks ago, she had already talked to several agents and wanted to know why no one would help her.  I tried to explain that the type of house she was looking for did not exist at the price she was able to pay. I'm sure she's called 5 or 6 others since then.

Marc, if I hadn't read your entire post, I would have said that this was the same guy who contacted us last week. The only difference is that, he wants us to send him a round trip ticket for 2 from Toronto. ... and that is no joke! His budget was alittle higher though... $180K. But it has to be beachfront with pool and 3 car garage.

What?   The guy didn't want the house to be on a couple of acres with room for horses, too ?

A little different twist and not a joke that came in the mornings e-mail:

Dear ______________,        After learning of Jeff Sessions being re-elected our corporation has confirmed to construct our newly additional plant in Tennessee. We flew into Gulf Shores as mentioned early in last e-mail, it is disgusted how Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and surrounding areas have become empty areas of progress. We see no change from Hurricanes last visits to the Gulf coastal areas, we spotted hundreds of blue roofs in the Pensacola areas.  Why have the local politicians not done anything to repair these damaged homes and areas of South Alabama and Pensacola the neighboring area.  I personally cannot understand why people in that area would vote for Republicans who have done nothing for their areas as in terms of forcing insurance companies to comply with damages which occurred from the last recent hurricanes.  It is rather simple why Republicans were voted out in majority of offices in this last election. Nothing was done with notice of help for Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, and then own carried state of Texas.  Do not know if you have noticed lately, but corporations such as ours and many in your areas is ready for a major change in how people think and spend in this new elected government.  We do not want to go through another 8 years of hit and miss opportunities, is the very reason we confirmed our offer when we learned of Sessions being re-elected.  Sessions being re-elected gave a sour reflection to those who were thinking of building in these areas.  He has done nothing for those areas while he has been in Washington, and his re-election will cost the coastal areas many jobs and opportunities.  Americans are not going to go through another time period as they have with Republicans controlling every ones lives again. This past elections has proven to me, many other corporations, and many future companies that Alabama citizens are not as educated as people thought in the past. Alabama has poor schools, poor road system, and high unemployment rates compared to other areas of the like population. Alabamians used to laugh at Mississippi and Georgia, not anymore, Alabama is on the verge level from studies to poorest areas of Mexican communities in Mexico, and this is going to hurt many businesses for many years to come statewide. I just do not understand why the majority of Alabama citizens believe they are Republicans, when the majority of Alabama citizens are on Food stamps, Welfare and Aid, and worst of all unemployed.  How many people do you personally know that has a yearly net income of $300,000.00.  If you make that or above you have a educated reason to vote Republican, otherwise your only living in a fantasy world which is the escape from reality. Reality is what sales homes, creates jobs, and betters the school systems.  Fantasy is what kids do on Saturday morning in front of the television.  I sincerely hope most who are in sales in Alabama are living a reality world.  Thank you again for your concern for our needs, but we have moved to another location which cost Alabama another 1500+ new jobs and over $400M in revenue. ___________ , CEO
