Goal - My New Website on 1st page of Google by 4th Quarter of 2008
Posted May 3, 2008 @ 8:43 am, Viewed by 801 Visitors, Read 897 Times.Accountability can be a good thing. I figure if that I post my goal here in front of everyone it will give me more motivation to accomplish it. It is like telling everyone that you are on a diet.
Goal:
To get my new website - Sarasota real estate on the first page of Google for 'sarasota real estate' by the 4th quarter of 2008. I will mostly stick to the basics in my efforts to get there. You know, the stuff we talk about about on the REW forums and blogs.
The Competition:
Below are the top 10 sites as of today. Google has been moving these around a lot lately.
1. www.thesarasotamls(dot)com - Great site. ;-) Lots of content with a nice IDX. Tough competition. I don't really want to beat this site.
2. michaelsaunders(dot)com - Very authoritative. Lots of links pointing to it. Great site. Very tough competitor.
3. siestakeyrealestate(dot)com - Advanced access site, lots of links from all kinds of sites, very functional site, very active in SEO, tough competitor
4. trulia(dot)com - powerhouse. very tough competitor.
5. sarasotaisconwaycountry(dot)com - Nice site, good agent, knowledgeable, very active blogger, tough competitor
6. buysarasota(dot)com - John has a great site, elegant and functional. Very active in SEO. Participates in REW forums and blogs.
7. exitrealtygulfcoast(dot)com - Small site, framed in IDX from the Sarasota Board of Realtors, not a lot of links. I would think there are better sites to put in the top 10 (hopefully mine).
8. yahoo - powerhouse. tough competitor but beatable.
9. sarasotalandandhomes(dot)com - fellow REW website. Good site with nice IDX. Active blogger.
10. pureproducts(dot)com - good site, good agents, tons of unique content. tough competitor.
16. luxurysarasotarealestate.com - My new site. I'm happy with it. Good job REW. Good idx, not many links, lots of pages, starting to blog a lot.
The top 10 could and most likely will change tomorrow. Google has been jumping around a lot lately. I feel good about my chances. I do see room for another good site in the top 10. Wish me luck.

Thank you. I will do my best. I don't like reading goals out loud but it does create some accountability and motivation to achieve them.
At first I thought your sarasotamls site had to be taken down (change the domain) so I'm not sure why you're creating yet another Sarasota site. But I know you can do it. OK everyone, I'm on a diet (I'm always on a diet)....
I just wanted another site to diversify a little bit. Not taking my other one down. ;-)
That's good - I almost freaked out thinking you were forced to get rid of your domain but then you wouldn't need to create a brand new site because of that. I'm too diversified - I got rid of a site as there are only 24 hrs. in a day (& I already have more than one so the newest simply had to go).

Marc, your new web site is very nice! It is clean, attractive, functional and doesn't DEMAND that visitors become an immediate lead. I also really like the links on the main page that allow users to click immediately into a property search. Best of luck with your SEO efforts!

Marc ~ Best of luck to you. Mapping out you competition and writing a plan is a great start to a successful business model. Keep your head down and you should be able to make a big dent in the SERP.
Well....I am sitting at number 13 right now for 'sarasota real estate' but that changes daily. I appreciate the support. I am plugging away. I have to perform now that I made my goal public.

It does not need to be #1. I don't think that will happen anytime soon. My other site can stay there. I just want another one in the top 10.
