Well we are just starting to head into the spring market here in Calgary and if the Chinooks can bring us warm weather and melt away snow so can buyer do to our current inventory, melt it away. This spring  the market is favouring the buyers. With a total inventory of just over 10,500 Active Listings on the Calgary Real Estate Board’s MLS system, the ball is going to be in the buyer’s court. Spring is almost here and the market is going to pick up some momentum as winter in coming to an end. Over the past few years the spring period is when the sales-to-active-listings ratio is the highest. Historically this is higher in March than most months. Many people may wonder what 2008 will bring them in this real estate market. According to the president of the Calgary Real Estate board, Ed Jensen, we should see the average sales price of single family homes increase by 5% and Condominium sales values should increase by 6% in Metro Calgary. As of January 21st, 2008 we have a total of 8,592 Active MLS listings in Calgary and surrounding area. Of those 5,323 are Single Family Homes, 2,296 are Condominiums in Metro Calgary. The Conference Board of Canada has proclaimed that Calgary is Canada's most attractive City to live in. It is the 1st time the board has carried out such a study and only of communities with a population of over 100 thousand were considered. Of the 27 Canadian cities that were surveyed, Calgary came on top on factors such as ,Health, Housing , and innovation. Keys to this placing by the Board is Calgary's red hot economy along with the robust job growth in the city. The Conference Board of Canada measured seven specific categories, Economy, Innovation, Education, Environment, Housing, Heath, and Society. Calgary was the only city to score A's and B's.
