Will I Be Attending This Year's REW Summit?

I was very happy to see that Morgan was putting on another REW Summit this year.  After attending last year's gathering I couldn't wait for the next one.  I originally planned to go without thinking twice about it.

However, I had hoped my husband could go on the trip with me and that we could spend a day or two in Seattle and at least one day in Victoria.  But my husband has a heavy schedule with his band in the summer and told me I'd have to go without him.  So I wasn't sure if I wanted to do that again.

Add to that the fact that we purchased a townhouse in Scottsdale, AZ at the beginning of the year and I won't even mention how much we spent on the purchase and furnishing the place.  Not to mention the 3 trips we've already taken and the fact that we'll be back two to three more times this year.

Then there's the trip to the south of France we'll be taking in October!  Whew!  I wouldn't qualify as a full-time agent per New York's rules according to Larry Jensen, NY RE Broker.

The last trip I took to AZ (10 days) forced me to give every buyer I had been working with to a partner agent so I lost a big amount of money having to do that.  I was gone too long to expect my buyers to wait for me and I'd rather get something than nothing, if they ended up using someone else during my absence.

When we closed on our townhouse in AZ I told myself I would accept any lost business caused by visiting our place.  I would just accept it and enjoy our Scottsdale visits.  Easier said than done, though!

This happened last year

I did want to go last year but I couldn't imagine traveling to Nanaimo by myself.  Dennis Pease gave me a call and made the trek sound pretty easy.  So I went online and did some searches and was leaning even more towards not going because I just couldn't figure out how to get there with planes and ferries and rental cars.  It was way too confusing.

But I still really wanted to go.  Finally, someone (I think Brian Mc) told me a way to travel that sounded pretty straightforward.  So I got excited again and tried finding someone that was also traveling via Seattle to share a rental car with.  That's when I made arrangements with Mike Brown.

No one called me this year

No one lit the fire under me this time.  I didn't even want to read the summit forum because I decided I would bypass this year's event and go again next year.  But then I did it.  I started reading the summit forum and decided, the heck with it, I want to go again!

So if anyone's going via Seattle

I'm going to write up my forum post soon to try to find someone once again going through Seattle and taking the ferry and then renting a car.  If I can't find anyone I might sit this one out and go next year and make arrangements earlier.  As it stands, if I have to fly into Vancouver the charges are double or more what it would cost to fly into Seattle.  You still have to take a ferry although depending what ferry you take you might not need a car.

This year I'll stay within walking distance of the conference

Last year I stayed at The Ramada Inn, as did several other attendees.  The place was fine but we had to drive to the conference hall and anywhere else.  This time I'll stay at one of the hotels within walking distance.

I'll have to get my passport

I'll need it for my trip to France but now I'll have to get going with it.  We didn't need it last year if we were coming by land or sea.  So I'll get working on that.

I'm going to the forum now and try to find someone that's taking the Seattle route.
