In fact, within the past ten years, the area has quadrupled its population and currently boasts 52,000 residents. There are many reasons for the growth of this city, with the main ones being its proximity to Austin, Texas, its location near to the Colorado River, and its unique atmosphere.
Raising a Family in Cedar Park
Cedar Park is a great area to raise a family. In fact, Family Circle named it as one of the “Top Ten Places to Raise a Family” in 2007. One reason for this distinction is the city’s excellent school systems. As a member of the Leander Independent School District, Cedar Park schools are among the fastest growing in the state of Texas.
The availability of its 280,000 square foot hospital is another reason Cedar Park real estate is great for raising families. The $125 million medical center offers a hospital with 77 beds as well as labs and physician offices.
Having Fun in Cedar Park
Cedar Park offers plenty of recreational opportunities to its visitors and its residents. Since it is located so close to Texas Hill Country, activities such as bicycling, hiking, and various water sports are easily accessible. With its proximity to metro Austin, on the other hand, residents and visitors can also find easy access to shopping, great restaurants, fine wine, live music, and a wide variety of other activities found in big cities.
Youth sports are also widely available in Cedar Park, including football, softball, soccer, and baseball. There are also several neighborhood parks located throughout the city as well as two public swimming pools.
Starting a Business in Cedar Park
Cedar Park is also a great place for entrepreneurs. Since the labor force is so well educated and highly skilled, it offers businesses a very valuable workforce. In fact, over 2/3 of the adults living in the community have completed at least some college while almost half of the adults hold at least a bachelor’s degree.
With its excellent schools, top of the line medical facilities, abundant recreational opportunities, and growing employment opportunities, it is easy to see why so many are choosing to make their homes in Cedar Park.

Hi Jim, nice bio of the area. Seems like a great place to raise a family. The Santa Cruz, California real estate market and community is diverse and an interesting place to raise a family as well.No doubt things are cheaper there than here by the beach. One thing we have found helpful is the school boundary map which we have on our site;your link appears to be broken.Keep up the good work.
