Morristown NJ Mayor Cutting Cops
According to a recent article in the Daily Record News Paper Morristown NJ Mayor Donald Cresitello will fire 12 police officers, since he is not getting his way with the Morristown Council who refused to pass the Mayor's $37.8 million city budget on a 4 to 3 vote.
Come on Mr. Cresitello, can't you put some effort into figuring out a smaller budget what works? It has been reported that Morristown will be increasing real estate taxes over 3% this year. Why can't our local governments learn to do more with less just like the residents of our towns have had to do with their personal budgets.
It is time to put city government on a Diet!!

Morristown NJ Mayor Is At It Again.
According to a article in today's Daily Record Morristown New Jersey's Mayor Donald Cresitello is at it again.
Cresitello wants to deputize local police officers to enforce federal immigration laws under a program known as 287G. The plan would give approximately 10 local police officers the same enforcement powers as agents of the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

I don't intend to get wound up in immigration issue as it really is not my area of interest. I wonder though, why is it that the Morristown NJ Mayor has so much time to devote to this issue, but seemingly no time to…

In the continuing story, Morristown Memorial Hospital owners Atlantic Health deny having parts of their operation here in Morristown as for profit entities.
Still Morristown pushes forward trying to collect real estate taxes.
It has been my opinion for a while not that Morristown NJ government officials should be spending the vast majority of their time trying to find ways to cut spending, rather then finding ways to ring more money out of places like Morristown Memorial Hospital. I think that cost cutting efforts would be much more appreciated by the voters of Morristown.

Many people who live in one of the Midtown Direct towns already may know this, but that train line really helps property values. It looks like in the future the Midtown Direct train line will enhance property values even more than it does today.
With fuel prices looking like they will be $3 or higher for the foreseeable future and more and more people trying to be eco friendly there are going to be more and more people wanting the ability to walk or bike to a train station so that they can commute into New York City or some of the Eastern New Jersey cities.
When looking for a home in Northern New Jersey, you would be very wise to keep this trend in mind and give the train line towns extra consideration.
