Affordable Housing Yes, State And Local Regulation Too Much
According to a story in the Morris NewsBee
The Morris Township Committee was expected to discuss changes to its affordable housing requirement yesterday, Wednesday, as they affect the first housing plan to come under those requirements, a property on James Street approved last year for 92 townhouses.
Mayor Nace said the development under consideration for Wednesday, the site of an old Verizon building, could very easily result in the owner of the property walking away and selling the land to a church or another non-taxpaying entity.
I am all for affordable housing and think that the Eastern parts of Morris County have way to little affordable housing. Heck you cannot even rent a decent 1 bedroom apartment in Morristown or Madison for less than $1,500 a…

Yesterday was the day to treat my mother in-law to a trip into Manhattan NYC. We decided to see a Broadway show, Mamma Mia to be exact. This was our chance to take the Midtown Direct Train into the city and just enjoy ourselves. Other than the show, no agenda, no traffic, no parking, just get on the train and relax.
Let me first say, the show was excelent, I highly recomend it. The show was very funny, but very entertaining and fun at the same time. Have not seen the movie yet but I am told that it is very good as well but for different reasons.
So why am I writing about this on a real estate blog? Many people would like to live a more suburban life but still work in Manhattan. Heck, many people do that now actually. In my neighborhood (Convent…

These simple things could save you tens of thousands of dollars on Summit NJ Real Estate!!
As a home buyer who wants to make sure he / she gets the best possible deal on purchasing a home in Summit NJ, but like most home buyers you don't want to go though major renovations (at least not right away). Short of looking for foreclosures and such things, which everyone starts off talking about, I will give you the tried and true things which will get you a home at a great deal.
What to look for physically: Look for homes which are structurally sound, your not going to have to rebuild things, tare things down, go get a home equity loan to pay for repairs. These homes you want to find, have little curb appeal because the home owner has not taken care to keep…
The Summer Midtown Direct NJ Real Estate Market
The summer real estate market is here, as a REALTOR I can just feel it. People who were regularly looking at homes now have to be convinced to take time out of their evening or weekend to go out and look at homes. When you can convince them to go look, rather than looking at 5 or 6 homes, now they are only willing to look at 2 or 3 homes.
If this year holds true to the typical summer trend the midtown direct real estate market will feel like it has almost shut down for the rest of June and most of July.
This means a great opportunity for those home buyers who are willing to take some time during this very slow time of the market. You may be the only buyer who looks at a home for a 3 or 4 week period. if you like that home, and make a offer, it is…

That is the phrase coming from some of the long time New Jersey real estate market experts. They sighted the increase in overall home sales from the month of March to the month of April this year. The first time that has happened since the same period of 2005. One of the experts was also sighting that as a whole the number of homes under contract has increased for 4 month in a row.
I can state that I am working with and hearing from more home buyers over the last few months than I had been in February and March of this year. Over all it still seems to me that the home buyers are being careful but they are willing to buy.
If you are a home buyer, what does this mean to you? It means that there is competition out there for the homes which are a good…
