Trulia Foreclosure Glossary What's In It For Trulia?

I just received this email from Trulia “affording me the opportunity” to help millions of homeowners in need by helping Trulia create their foreclosure glossary:

“More home buyers and owners are going through the complex foreclosure process today than ever before.  That's why we're asking real estate experts (like you) from the Trulia Voices community to help create a Foreclosure Glossary.

What's in it for you?  The Foreclosure Glossary is a great opportunity to showcase your foreclosure expertise and help millions of homeowners in need.

Take a minute to share your foreclosure expertise here!”

The part that seems to be omitted is “What’s in it for Trulia???”

Let me put this email through my Trulia Translation Machine and tell you what it really says:

“Foreclosures are an extremely hot topic right now and a major source of real estate search traffic that we want to get our hands on and ultimately sell back to you.  Here is where we stroke your ego and ask you kindly to help us outrank you by adding fresh relevant content to our site, not yours.

This is where, if we didn’t yet, we insult your intelligence by pretending the reason we are doing this is to help homeowners in need while we get ready to monetize the content we are trying swindle out of you.

Share your expertise with us so we can charge you for your own knowledge!!! :)”

There it is in plain English…Trulia is asking you for your knowledge and content so they can use that content to outrank you and ultimately sell the traffic that you helped generate back to you.

It has been said many, many, many times before…TRULIA IS OUR COMPETITION!!  Do yourself a favor and instead of helping Trulia rank for these terms; write your own blog, create a new page on your site, create a new blog about foreclosures, anything…just don’t help out your competition.

Obviously, I will not be contributing to their foreclosure glossary but you can check out my Indianapolis foreclosures and Indianapolis short sales pages to see what is available in the Indianapolis market.

Thanks Carolyn.  I know I am preaching to the choir here at REW, but I thought it was worth a post to try and shed some more light on the siutation.

Unfortunately, there is only a handful of us that can see through Trulia's hidden agenda.  The rest of the real estate world will line up like sheep before a slaughter.  They'll never know what hit em!

Hi Mike!

FYI - This is from the REW Blog Login page:

"About REW Blogs:

Quick & Easy Publishing of Real Estate Content

An REW blog gives Realtors a voice on the web. Using REW Blogs, real estate professionals can now showcase their knowledge and expertise to the world.

Whatever you have to say, REW Blogs can help you say it."

-------------------------------------------

Just like REW, Trulia gives agents a platform to share their content and knowledge with the world. We have many consumers looking for Foreclosure information on Trulia and many agents are providing them with answers. If the consumer likes what that agent wrote or said, they will contact the agent. We have many testimonials to support this.....To me, this seems like a great win-win for both the consumer and agent.
