Building a New Home (Part 1 or 4)
Posted Jan 16, 2007 @ 9:16 am, Viewed by 863 Visitors, Read 867 Times. So you want a New Home in the Louisville Kentucky area. Where do you start? if you have never built a new home before (or had a new home built for you before...) Then it can be a very frustrating time.
You have a vision of what you want, but how can you bring that vision to reality? How to choose (objectively) the right neighborhood? All I can tell you is where I would start...
First I'd look at the location...a REALTOR can be of great help here because your new home's value is as much determined by the quality of the other neighborhood homes as it is by the quality of its own construction...Think about that for a minute...
If you build a QUALITY Louisville area new home and it is in a neighborhood of lesser quality homes then YOUR new home's value is impacted.
Who knows the local builders better than the local REALTORs? They have to re-sell builders' products a few years later, so an experienced agent that does NOT work for a specific builder is a GREAT source of objective information and representation.
Ok, once the REALTOR helps you with lot selection and planning, then comes the financing and contracting...We will deal with that in part 2.
