Homes for sale in Plano have steadily garnered increasing attention over the last couple of years. The rising popularity of Plano real estate could well be attributed to the growth of Legacy in Plano. This new development has proven itself to be the city’s crown jewel. The impressive list of businesses that call Legacy home is producing both a healthy economic outlook for the city and a wealth of new or relocating employees who are buying up homes in Plano.
Legacy in Plano is home to business of all types, resulting in a workforce that is bringing more diversity than ever before. From high-tech to healthcare, a slew of corporations has moved in:
HEALTHCARE
Healthcare-related business who have bought up Plano real estate include Advanced Neuromodulation Systems (ANS), a leading provider of medical equipment, and LifeCare, a company that specializes in hospital operations management. Healthcare provider access organization AmeriPlan has also built a facility for its 250 corporate employees at the Legacy site. Legacy Heart Center will serve nearly 30,000 patients from its lab and office space in Plano. Perhaps most notable, though, is the new Children’s Medical Center Legacy, which will occupy 69 acres and open in stages to serve local patients.
TECHNOLOGY
High-tech firms are also enabling employees to take a look at homes for sale in Plano. The Legacy in Plano location of AT&T Wireless’ corporate offices will be home to more than 900 employees, and phone manufacturer Ericsson also employs 1,700 telecom professionals. Software companies Intuit (makers of Quicken) and McAfee, Inc. (proprietors of anti-virus applications) bring a combined workforce of over 1,000 employees to Legacy in Plano. Big technology player EDS will be home to the most tech pros (10,000 plus) at Legacy, and their multi-site facility also has an on-site credit union that serves all of Collin County.
RETAIL
Retailers are flocking to Plano, developing the real estate at Legacy into impressive and functional corporate headquarters that take advantage of the site’s employee-friendly location and amenities. Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages, the largest non-cola soft drink manufacturer in the U.S., relocated 750 employees to Plano. Also headquartered at Legacy in Plano is department store giant JCPenney, with 4,000 employees. Purveyors of yummy goods Frito Lay and Pepsico bring a workforce of more than 3,000 to Plano.
FINANCIAL
While wealth is nothing new to Plano, some new financial firms are. Beal Bank employs 650 DFW residents, and Countrywide Home Loans employs an impressive 5,000. The Capital One Campus at Legacy has moved 4,500 employees to Plano to serve the company’s banking and auto finance lines of business. The aptly named Legacy Texas Bank will have both a corporate headquarters and a bank branch with a drive-through at the Legacy site.
It seems that all these available jobs are paying well, too; Plano was recently named the wealthiest city in the U.S. for the second year in a row. Is it, perhaps, the start of a legacy?
