Cedar Rapids Releases Another $100,000 for First Time Home Buyers!

Recently, an Iowa grant offering up to $6,000 per first time home buyer ran out of money.  With such a hard to pass up offer, I could see why.  Well, last week, those funds ran out for the first installment.

The good news is that there has been an additional $100,000 earmarked for this grant, and so first time home buyers can once again apply and receive this money in addition to the $8,000 tax credit allowed by the federal government which does not require repayment.   Purchasing Cedar Rapids real estate for the first time has never been easier.

That's up to $14,000 in savings if you are a first time home buyer. So, if you are on the fence about buying, this might help you get started.  This is probably not for those of you who are just discussing and initializing your search for a home at this time.  Because this money is for Cedar Rapids, it won't last long because of the number of applicants that will be applying.  If you are ready to buy and make an appointment to see a lender, this program will immediately assist you with the necessary funds to make purchasing a home much easier. 

If you are able to take advantage of this Iowa grant, fantastic.  You will have until December 1, 2009 to receive the $8,000 tax credit, but you'll need to hurry to receive the $6,000 grant from Iowa.   If you are unable to qualify or receive this grant because the funds have once again run out, you will still be able to receive the $8,000 tax credit and it's also a great time to buy a house in Cedar Rapids.  Interest rates are still at historic lows in an effort to spur the economy.
