Cedar Rapids Real Estate Listings Search

Are you one of several hundred people each year moving back to Cedar Rapids. If you have answered yes to any of the three questions, you are no doubt searching for Cedar Rapids real estate.
However, do you really know what you're searching for when you first initiate your search for homes? In other words, have you answered the following questions first:
- Have you been to see a lender to see if your credit is good, and what you are pre-qualified for in terms of a mortgage loan?
- When you search for say 75-100K price range, do you know exactly how much money it costs to own one of these homes (principal + interest, insurance, taxes, etc.)?
Provided the answers to these two questions your search price range might change either up or down or perhaps stay the same. For example, currently a home listed in Northeast Cedar Rapids for $94,900 costs $778 per month to own. That includes everything: principal, interest, insurance, taxes, and PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance). My next question is: Can you afford a monthly payment of $778? If so, you are in the right price range. If you can afford more, then you would obviously search for higher priced homes in the Cedar Rapids area.
Wouldn't you like to have access to all Cedar Rapids real estate listings directly from our very own MLS (Multiple Listing Service)? This is the same service Realtors in town use to provide information to their clients. At this meeting with a lender, they will ask you for two years worth of W-2 Forms from your taxes, your last two paystubs (two from each spouse), and your social security numbers. Based on this information they will pull your credit score and arrive at a FICO score. The higher your FICO score, the more money you will qualify for in a home mortgage loan. Now, just because you are qualified for a certain dollar amount, doesn't mean you want to incur that debt each and every month as part of your budget. I work with your lender to help you determine all of these financial numbers so you are comfortable with the monthly payments. Then we go shopping for your very own home!
