What a lovely Spring weekend we had here in Wilmington (not too bad for early January) with temps in the mid 70's.  Can you believe we're still cutting grass and its January? 

Our real estate market has been very strong for the last 2 months, our team put several homes under contract in the last seven days.  If you're considering buying and/or selling make SURE you are with an agent that is heavy on the internet.  We've found that 97% of our buyers start their search on the internet.  Also, if you're selling your home make sure you're using some type of virtual tour and multiple pictures.  According to Realtor.com (worlds most viewed real estate website) 50% OF THEIR VISITORS SKIP HOMES WITHOUT VIRTUAL TOURS & EXTRA PICTURES.

RISMEDIA, Jan. 3, 2007-(MCT)-Sales are evening out in the real estate market and are expected to hold steady through 2007, said Emerald Coast Association of Realtors CEO Barry Stafford.

The market's biggest hurdles are property taxes and homeowner's insurance, he said.

Stafford led a group of 2007's ECAR leaders in a discussion with local media.

Present were ECAR President Harry Millsaps, President-elect Cliff Chaplin, Secretary/Treasurer Glenda Glover, Assistant Treasurer Jan Huyser, Fort Walton Beach Director Bob Hudgens and Panama City Beach Director Kathy Hasbrouck, along with Kelly Cameron and Judy Catrett-Sheridan who are members of ECAR's public relations committee.

RISMedia, Jan. 2 (MCT) - Led by a surge in the Northeast, home sales inched up across the United States last month in what industry insiders say is yet another sign that the year-long real estate slowdown may be ending.

The National Association of Realtors reported last week that sales of existing homes in the Northeast rose 6 percent in November to an annual rate of 1.06 million. It was only the second increase in the past nine months.

In addition, the region's median sale price was up more than 5 percent to $269,000, the first increase since June.

"That makes me very optimistic," said Dan Shiver, president of the Passaic County Board of Realtors and owner of the Shiver Real Estate Agency in Paterson.
